When we opened up our doors for submissions back in the beginning of the month we didn't have any idea what to expect. I mean, would anyone even consider submitting a story to a brand new website calling itself a fiction magazine with no established names on the masthead? As it turns out, the answer is YEP.
It's been a little over two weeks now, and we have received nearly one hundred submissions. That number might not be impressive to The Paris Review, but for our little zine I was blown away by the response. The best part has not been the quantity of submissions that we have gotten, though, it's the quality. There are so many fantastic writers out there in the world, and it is very humbling that so many of these talented people have chosen to share their stories with us.
In fact, the stories we have received so far have been of such high caliber that we are already approaching our budgeted word count for our first issue. It has been a lot of fun reading all of these stories, but it is with a bit of sadness that I must announce that the last day we will accept submissions for our January issue will be August 31, 2015.
Hopefully that date is far enough away that any of you who are currently polishing a manuscript will have enough time to get it in. But if not, don't fret - before you know it we'll be back and taking submissions for our second issue. If you have any questions on our submissions policy, you know where to find me.
